This is pretty useless but it has always entertained me for some reason. I remember in the last iOS, if you were to go to the search iPhone screen and drag back over to your apps just to the point the keyboard disappeared, then drag back over to the search screen the keyboard would not reappear. This doesn't work in the current iOS however, but I accidentally found out how to do this again. If you double tap just above the keyboard, and slide your finger down over the keyboard, it will disappear.

Has anyone else noticed this and is the an intended feature in iOS? I know it's useless, but it has always intrigued me for some reason.

I doubt it's an Easter egg, probably just a glitch that they didn't expect any normal person to find. ;) :D
