Hi Guys,

I could use your help. (I searched the forum first ;) )

Few days ago I booted up and my 08 17" MBP 10.6.6 kept telling me wrong password. I retyped the password 10 times till the my user account disappeared...

I created a new user account through a root login and copied it over the old one (might of been the wrong move).

Now I get the "You do not have permission view content" error on Documents, Desktop and Downloads. Ouch
So I do a root login and all those folders are all the sudden empty. Finder says I just gained 14 GB. Great

Did I back up my stuff? I only backup my Photos regularly. The rest hasn't been backed up in 8 months. There are a few documents which I could use. Tough luck.

Is there a way to access those missing files? I repaired my permissions. If no, I'll have to try some Harddrive recovery tool. (any recommendations?)

Appreciate your help.
