User Data Files Saved in two Places

Hello,

I am booting of an external thrunderbold SSD. I have compelety erases my internal hard drive and would like to use it for storage. I copied my User file from the SSD to the hard drive. I then went to System Preferences and changed the location of the files from SSD to hard drive.

When I tested this with a new file, I noticed that it wrote the file to both the SSD and the hard drive. I only want it going to hard drive. Any ideas? Thanks much, Bill
