Hey been Googling and searching these forums but haven't been able to find a precise answer yet.

I have a 2011 MBA and as the title states, an early 2009 iMac. Both of these machines have a mini display port so I was wondering, if I bought a mini displayport to mini displayport cable, would I be able to use the iMac as an monitor to the MBA?

It would seem it would naturally work but all the articles I find posted from Apple only refer to the 27" iMacs.

I found a cable for like 6 bucks so I may just order it and test it myself, but I figured if I could get an answer first, I mine as well.

It will NOT work, as only the 27" iMac can be used as external display.

Maybe look into AirDisplay, as it allows to use Macs as "display" via network.

Oh that's pretty lame of them. I really picked wrong when I chose early 2009. Seems like this model got jipped on any sort of "extra" features you'd expect out of the box.

Thanks for your response.
