Apple uses a lot of clever software to enhance the photos on the phone. For me the essential reason I use Lightroom/Moment is that I can take the photo in RAW, which gives me more control over the final photo. I don't see how using a 3rd App, especially one authorised by Apple in the App store is going to affect the hardware or lens/camera on iPhone.

Basically, it comes down to, do you want to do most of the work to get a good photo in your style, or do you want Apple to do most of the work? At the end of the day the more you know and understand about photography, the better photo you are going to take no matter what system you use.
