Using Netflix, HBO Go, Showtime and Prime it will be HD one minute then suddenly get extremely blurry. I have a 50 mbps internet connection, is that not enough? Is there any kind of troubleshooting I can do to isolate the problem? Thanks!
Could it be due to throttling by streaming services to conserve bandwidth?
Are you running on the 5 Ghz band?
Most likely the throttling - youtube is like that for me
Throttling is an intentional reduction in the streaming bitrate by the streaming service and there is nothing you can do other than complain. What is throttling and is there anything I can do to fix the issue? How do I determine if I am on 5 ghz band? I should mention I live in an apartment and the internet is provided through my complex unfortunately with no option for using any outside provider.

In the current environment, I think people are willing to sacrifice a bit of quality for now.
It may have nothing to do with the device you're using to view. The point is that there's more load on streaming and internet services now than there ever has been. It’s not just a bit of quality, it’s completely unwatchable. Damn, really didn’t want to spend another $25.

where are you?
in the EU, some services have taken away their top quality streams, just because everyone is streaming and they're trying to relieve some of the pressure on the network
last I saw, this wasn't happening in the US yet, but it could.
you say you have a 50Mb/s connection
how do you know this?
you say the building provides the internet.
Do you have a network jack in the apartment? or are you just joining the building's wifi?
If it's the second, and you have a network jack you can connect to.
I'd buy a router, and connect that to the hardwired port, make your own wi-fi, and have all your devices connect to that.
If you're sharing wifi with the whole building, there's probably not much you can do to fix the problem.
possibly getting an HDMI extension, and moving the fire stick away from and out from behind the TV might help with your signal.
Be aware a normal HDMI extension cable won't work, as you'll need one with a female plug (like what's on your TV) on one end. Normal cables are male on both ends.
