I have a Griffin car adapter that I got for my 1st gen/2G iPhone. Now I have a 3G phone and was wondering about compatibility.

When I plug it in it goes to the charge screen like normal. However, I'm noticing that when 3G is turned on the battery indicator never seems to go up. If I turn 3G off it seems to charge fine.

So is it just that having 3G on uses that much power that an adapter can't charge it properly? Or are the 3G iPhone power requirements different?
