Took one of our builds from 2010 (It's had upgrades over the years) outside with the cover off and fired up a leaf blower at the inside. The amount of dust that came out of it was unreal. It's never been cleaned before in that way - we always used a vacuum cleaner in the past and that misses a lot of dust. I wiped it down as well and it looks much better.

I have another tower but it's generally a lot cleaner but I'm thinking of doing the same thing with it.

I've successfully (and regularly) used my Stihl BG50 to rid my '06 and '12 MPs (and other Dell-ish boxen) of non-essential dust/accumulation.

Only consideration I would attend, is that some "fans" do not like to be overly spun-up . . . you can easily go "whee!", but some fans are not rated for such excitement ;)

I have a PowerMac G5 and that thing would accumulate dust like mad and you could tell how dusty it was by how loud the fans ran. The fans in the PC case are aftermarket and there are quite a few of them in there so we could replace them if they stop working.

I kept the leaf blower on the low setting too.

I don't think that this is something that I could do with my Mac Studio. I'd probably just use a vacuum cleaner on that one.

I was never delicate with my blower when I rid those boxes of dust . . . full-blast.

IIRC, the cautionary-tale potential for static-discharge with a vacuum on sensitive, internal parts was a no-no.

That being said, I was not shy about vacuuming the internals of my MP's; and, I'm certainly not shy about taking a vacuum to my Studio.

None of my devices has ever failed because-of.
