Using a Logitech MX 5000 keyboard on a Mac?

I just bought Logitech's MX5000 bluetooth mouse/keyboard set. The mouse works well, but the keyboard doesn't work at all. The volume & mute buttons work on the keyboard, but none of the rest of the keys do.

I haven't installed Logitech Control Center yet, because I've heard horror stories about kernal panics and secret software installs about it, and would prefer to run the keyboard without it.

Has anyone got one working on their Mac? Any advice?

I've never run into any problems with the Logitech Control Center.

After experimenting for a bit longer, it seems that the keyboard works fine when connected through the USB dongle, but not when connected through my MBP's internal bluetooth. The mouse works fine with my internal bluetooth though. Weird.

Any suggestions on how to get it to work with my internal bluetooth?
