I want to use one of the many Remote Desktop apps from my iPad to access my iMac, maybe team viewer.

1. Which firewall settings or shared settings do I need to change to do this?
2. Does making these changes make my iMac much less secure?

Thanks.

TeamViewer should apply all the necessary settings when you install and run it on the mac(Do a test run from the computers location) You can go to your firewall settings(System Preferences>Security&Privacy>Firewall>Firewall Options) and add TeamViewer to the list and set it to "Allow Incoming Connections".. which should address the most likely issue you would encounter.. in terms of security, this should not have a major impact on the security of your system.
