Issues: 1. I've owned/operated an iMac for about 1 week now.
2. One of my synthesizers uses only floppies
3. I bought a usb floppy drive today and my iMac doesn't know it's plugged in.
4. I've searched for 'diskette drive' everywhere I can think of, and it seems to be an extinct term.
5. I need help.

Please don't bother to ask what a floppy is, or any other goofy nonsense; I've wasted enough time today already. Thank you. (You can probably tell that my patience is wearing a little thin)

More info please.
iMac model, OS?
Disk drive make model? 3 1/2" / 5 1/4" floppy or 100Mb Zip Drive?
Does it show up in System Profiler USB bus? How about Disk Utility?
Haven't used one in 12 years, have no idea if it will work. I seriously doubt it.

Hate to ask the dumb question, but when you said it doesn't appear, was there a disk in it? It wouldn't show on the desktop unless a disk is in it. Like your DVD drive.

Just for the heck of it I drug out my old Iomega 100 Zip Drive from the parts boneyard plugged it in and it showed up in System Profiler correctly identified! Popped in a disc and it mounted on the desktop. So maybe there is hope!
