Hey everyone. I recently upgraded my MacBookPro11,2 from the standard 512GB AHCI SSD (which uses a 12+16 Pin layout) to a 1TB 970 Pro. I want to use the SSD in my MacPro5,1 and found an adapter that converts the 12+16 Pin layout to M.2. I read that a PCIE X16 M.2 card can increase performance, but which one should I use? I looked at the ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 card, but I don't know if that is going to give me problems using a PCIE 3.0 X16 card in a 2.0 X16 slot...

This shot is of my original MBP AHCI in a 12+16 -> m.2 adapter board, attached to a solo pci-e card . . . notice that the 12+16 riser is 2x+ the height of the m.2

I cannot personally speak to multi-m.2 cards . . . just a thought to consider about space, and clearance, as these things add up (esp. when you add heatsinks).
