Using an ATV without a TV (only temporarily)

So, my TV got broken a few weeks ago, and I have an Apple TV (v.2) that I'd still like to use to stream music with. I have a Sony HT-CT150 (HDMI and optical inputs) that I'd like to use. I've tried to connect using both HDMI and optical, then playing the AppleTV using my iPhone remote app. The AppleTV was already configured and working fine with the TV, but I didn't have the Sony at the time (Xmas present). Any way to get the AppleTV talking directly to the Sony and get the music going again?

So, I got it sorted out. Optical into the TV port works, but optical into the DVD/other port does not. Strange, but might be something with passthrough going on. Anyways, streaming works fine using Remote, and so does AirPlay.
