Using an external monitor question

Hi,

I have the MPB 13" 2.26GHz model. I'm aware of the fact that the fan is better off when the lid of the notebook is open. My question is, when it comes to playing BF2 on an external monitor via Boot Camp, should I

1.) Keep the lid closed, preventing proper fan use. I'm not sure what/if any troubles could arise from this.

2.) Keep the lid open and have it do nothing, possibly restricting the amount of FPS I will be getting in game. I'm not sure if this will even decrease the amount of FPS.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Also, the resolution of the external monitor is 1680x1050 if this matters.

I have noticed that the notebook does get a little hot.

Are you measuring the temp my your hand or by software?

You can close the MBP, press space on the ext keyboard to wake up the MBP with one screen then open the MBP to get proper venting, the screen will stay shutoff, so no FPS loss
