using an old d-link di 713p router for a wireless network for two macbooks?

Hi i am sorry to ask for help, as i believe this should be a simple fix, but nothing is working right, so i need some help:

my parents gave me an old d-link di 713p wireless router (i believe it to be wireless b). i want to set it up so that my housemate and i can use our macbooks anywhere in the house; but tragically i don't have any manuals or instructions or software or anything for the router.

i believe i successfuly reset it, but the macbooks don't see it. does anyone know what i might need to do in order to get the network up and running?
