Using an old iMac as a second screen with the new Macbookpro

Hi anyone know a easy way to hook up an old iMac (mid 2010) as a second screen with the lastest MacBook Pro (15" Touchbar).

Though I had a solution but it doesn't seem to work. I've tried it with a Mini display port to HDMI cable though a third party dongle but it doesn't seam to want to work.

Are there any better solutions that I should be looking at.

Any help is welcome.
