Using an old plastic T Magsafe 1 adapter with 2013 MacBook Air?

As the title states, I have an old plastic 60 watt Magsafe adapter (see attached image) from a 2009 13 inch plastic MacBook that I would like to use with my 2013 11 inch MacBook Air. Wattage shouldn't be an issue, as I think the Air normally uses a 45 watt adapter.

All of the reviews for Apple's Magsafe 1 > Magsafe 2 adapter show it being used with the L-shaped MagSafe 1 adapter, but I'd like to know if anyone has been using it successfully with the old plastic one.
