Any way to do this in Preview? Right now I have to close/reopen preview to view each folder. I want to full screen view pictures one at a time using arrow left/right? Maybe another pic viewer? They aren't imported into the photos app so don't think I can use that either...
 
Select all of the files, then hit the spacebar for quick look, or right click and choose Quicklook...

maybe I'm not understanding your need but what about Quick Look in Finder (space bar)?
set your Finder window in column view, then you can step through all the photos/images/documents in a folder and also navigate in and out of nested folders using the cursor keys.

I know Apple is all about that one button mouse or the trackpad, but there is an awful lot you can do with the keyboard too.
