Hey everyone,

I recently setup my FreeNAS VM on my Linux box with an afp share so I can use it to backup my user data from my Mac mini using a task in CCC. The issue is that whenever there is an OS update, the settings I put in /etc/auto_master are wiped and I have to put those back in.

Is there any way to prevent these settings from getting wiped after an OS update? Or is there a better way to auto mount the share (without having a user sign in)?

Why wouldn't you have CCC mount the share before it started and unmount it when it was finished? Also, why build a process around AFP? AFP is going away.

Not sure about the CCC mounting shares thing so I’ll look into that, thanks for that.

As far as AFP, according to the CCC website you can only use AFP if you want to have versioning like Time Machine (being able to restore previous versions of a file/etc). Otherwise I would use SMB.
