Using AW as remote for Apple Music on MBP (or external computer)

Forgive me if this is a silly question or one that has already been answered. Have searched this forum as well as the Apple docs and they all refer to entering a remote pin in iTunes which... of course, no longer exists.

So - how does one use the remote app to control, say, the volume of the music playing in the Apple Music app on one's computer? This used to be possible by pairing the watch's remote app with iTunes. Is this functionality gone in Catalina?
