Using Boot Camp Assistant to make a second partition causes kernel panic

Hi,

I had a Windows partition (150GB) which I just used BCA to remove and have tried to create another one (500GB), however, within 15 seconds of clicking start everything starts to slow and stop responding and then I have a kernel panic.

Any idea why? I'm Verifying Disk with Disk Utility atm.

EDIT: I finally managed to not get a kernel panic whilst doing this, however it failed and said it couldn't do it and that I should use a program to reorganise space (I think). So, I'm looking for a defragger for the Mac now.
