Using Canon Lide 30 scanner with Graphic Converter

I use a Canon Lide 30 scanner and use a plug-in ScanGear CS 7.0.1X, together with GraphicConverter. It always worked when I was using GraphicConverter version 5.8.1. Now I have upgraded GraphicConverter to version 5.9.1, I cannot use the scanner any more because when I go to File->Acquire (in GraphicConverter), it does not list ScanGear CS 7.0.1X any more. I can see that the plug-in ScanGear CS 7.0X is still in the folder User->Library->Application Support-> GraphicConverter->Plug-ins. Any idea what I can do to use my scanner with version 5.8.1 or do I have to forego the later version of the application? By the way, I am running Mac OS10.5.6.
