Using Cellular Data With Pre-Paid T-Mobile Account

So I have an iPhone 3g, 16gb white and it is Unlocked to use on T-mobile and I added recently the unlimited text/pix/video messaging plan for $15 a month. However, I cannot send or receive pictures unless I turn Cellular Data on. Does anyone know if it'll charge me any fees or anything else from my pre-paid minutes? I keep checking my account balance and it's still the same. Appreciate the help, thanks.
