Using EyeTV Hybrid without EyeTV Software

I have an EyeTV Hybrid I purchased some 2 years ago. I recently got a new mac and am looking to use it to convert old VHS tapes.

My problem is I lost my serial number to activate the EyeTV software. I need to know what (hopefully free) software I can use to record input from the EyeTV Hybrid device when using it when it's connected to a VCR, not TV input.
