Since it doesn't use our minutes and it's via WiFi, can we technically use FaceTime to call someone abroad for free?
 
Yes, but you would have to first initiate a voice call. So, for the first little bit, it'll incur LD charges until Facetime is on.

No, you don't. Go to the contact of the person you want to FaceTime and hit the FaceTime button. Works like a charm.
 
I just tried it earlier this afternoon, and the direct FaceTime button in the contacts worked like a charm. Really thrilled with this actually! US->UK, if anyone's interested.
