Using FaceTime to call my Apple ID

My husband and I use the same Apple Id. When I try to use FaceTime to contact my husband in ML 10.8.2 on my new iMac I can't using our Apple ID. He has an iPad.

Is there any way around this?

Just get yourself another AppleID and only use it for Facetime. That will work and it will not effect your iTunes or iCloud AppleIDs.
