The finder offers a convenient format to browse directories at multiple levels. I would like to use that format for browsing starting from root (/), or indeed from anywhere. This means that either there might be a way to use that kind of file browser outside of finder, or I need a way to add the / directory to favorites, neither of which I know how to do. Both would be beyond expectations. Adding a favorite each time one wants to browse could get old pretty fast, but since / gives access to the entire file hierarchy, that may not be necessary, at cost of added effort if the wanted starting place is deeply buried.

I am sure I will feel stupid once it is pointed out to me, but though I have searched, both within my macbook and among the Apps, I have not noticed any such way for either.

Thanks.
