Using Firewire 400 and 800 ports at the same time

I read that using a FW 400 device slows the FW 800 port down to 400 speeds?

I'm using a ProFire 2626 in my 400 port...if I plug in a hard drive into the 800 port, will it be running at 400 speeds?

I've read some conflicting information about this so I'm making this thread to try and sort it out in my head. Is it okay because only one of the devices is a hard drive? Or will it slow down because the ProFire is a FW400 device?
