I use Gmail as my contacts backup, but it hasn't been syncing. I don't like using the cloud since I have too much info to fit on what they give you and I am not paying for more space. When I would add a new contact to my iPhone, it always synced to my Gmail contacts list. I don't know what happened, but I noticed that this isn't happening anymore. The only other things I really care about backing up is pics, which I upload to my Macbook Pro and Apps and text messages, but those are synced to iTunes.

What happens to your contacts on your phone when you TURN ON iCloud merging for contacts? Does it go from your phone to iCloud or does it pull in what's on iCloud and replace what's on your phone? I always had issues and confusion with this because I would lose contacts by doing this in the past. That's why I was using the Gmail which seemed to work fine for capturing my new contacts I would add, but not now for some reason.

Thanks
