iPad Pro Using hash while renaming photos ? is it required??

I normally when rename photos and videos in my device Photo gallery I generally just name it. But I saw a video where the guy was adding hash in front of the name. is it really required to put a hash in front of the name because what I have observer is, even without the hash it does index properly and gives me the result when I search it with its name ? So should one put hash in front of the name when renaming photos in the photo gallery ?

what is the big benefit of adding hash while renaming photos?
