Hi everyone!

I have a question that I've had a hard time finding an answer for elsewhere.

I have an original HomePod that I use in my bedroom and I am looking to get a HomePod mini for my bathroom. Now, I'm aware that I can't use the two together for stereo mode, but can I use the two together simultaneously to play music/podcasts in both rooms? If so, do they activate together at once or do I need to activate the second speaker manually via iOS/macOS?

Also; can they both simultaneously play the inbuilt ambient noises?

Thanks!

I’ve not used the ambient noise but I have HomePods in my living room, dining room, kitchen and bedroom. Some are OG HomePods and the rest are minis. I usually initiate playback on one HomePod and then use control centre add other HomePods in other rooms. So in that way I can have the same music playing in multiple rooms.

They will all play separate or together. It’s up to you. I have two OG HomePods and two minis and if I say, ”hey Siri, play Slayer everywhere” they all play perfectly in sync. If I say play Slayer to Just one speaker it will only play on that speaker. Basically it’ll do what you ask.

If you know before starting to play music that you want to listen in both rooms, simply say "Hey Siri, play ...... everywhere"
If you only need to listen to music in 1 room, then say "Hey Siri, play ...... in the bedroom/bathroom.
If you're playing music in 1 room already and want to play in the opposite room too, then say "Hey Siri, play this in the ...... as well. In this scenario, I have always made the request to the speaker already playing.
