Hey I currently own a old AirPlay 1 hifi system , which often cut out. I’m looking into buying an HomePod mini and a belkin sound form connect to turn my old hifi into AirPlay 2.

Would I be able to use this new setup to transfer music from the phone to the HomePod and let the the HomePod airplay to the the belkin sound connect hifi system?

I’m looking at this solution as I find it’d frustrating that every time I AirPlay from my phone I cannot use the phone properly as video clips etc will cut out the music playing through AirPlay 1

I believe the answer is yes, though it's been a while since I've had a HomePod and I'm not terribly familiar with the Belkin. But...in airplay you can choose both a sound source (in your case, the HomePod), and the speakers to which it plays (the Belkin). I've never had much need to do that, and hate apples UI - they should adopt a tabbed interface for choosing the source - but it can be done, I just find it a bit clunky.
