Using iMac as screen

Yes I know the cheaper alternative is probably to buy a screen but the moment I want to hold onto my iMac. So I am wanting to hook my rMBP up to my screen. As I understand I need a thunderbolt to thunderbolt cable. Was thinking of getting some sort of nice stand to put it on. Is there anything else I need other than the TB cable?

Nothing else is needed. Just a Thunderbolt equipped Mac, a compatible iMac, and a Thunderbolt cable.

Just one issue I foresee is use of bluetooth keyboard/mouse. Is it possible to interchange use with them?
