using imovie 09 and adjusting compression settings for iphone

Hello there,
I am using Imovie 09 and I want to share the video for my iphone. however the export to iphone option gives me no freedom to alter the compression settings to give me the best file size/quality ratio.
When I use the share to quick time setting and chose the h.264 option I cannot then bring the final movie to play on my iphone 3gs.
Any help, anyone?
