I was recently at an iMovie training course (by a 3rd party) and they advised the class it was better to store movies on an external HD (USB or firewire) rather than on the internal iMAC HD. They indicated performance is severly degrated on the MAC, if both the iMovie app and the movie clips being edited were on the same HD.

I am looking at getting one of the new iMACS and was considering getting a 1TB drive. However, based on the trainer's comments, I am wondering if I should just get the 500 GB and get an external HD for movie clips.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
