Hi everybody. I hope everyone is surviving lockdown! I’m new to this form, so I apologise if I’ve posted this in the wrong place.

I’m based in the UK, and my job involves supporting people who have sadly sustained/acquired physical and/or cognitive disabilities, such as a brain injury or a loss of dexterity. I am not an assistive technology expert. A great number of these people use iPads as they have the potential to assist many people, including young disabled children, to try and have an as normal technological as possible daily life. Often laptops and pcs are too difficult to use.

I would like to try and create a guide / start a blog detailing which pieces of assistive hardware, apps and other helpful tips and tricks there are out there that may help people with disabilities to use technology, in particular iPads. I know about the standard accessibility features, but it is the 3rd party / lesser known things I am keen to hear about, or indeed anything that can at all be helpful.

Ultimately, I think it would be great to set up a local support network focusing on this - maybe there is one established already? However, as a first step, I would be grateful if anyone has any recommendations for apps, pieces of hardware, existing support groups or indeed any advice that they think could be helpful for me or someone who needs it.

thanks in advance
