Hey everyone,

I'm considering getting the 3G iPad 2 so that, if I ever am in a pinch and need data, I can pull my SIM card out of my iPhone and stick it into the iPad.

Good idea/bad idea? I've read some horror stories of AT&T detecting users doing this and either forcing users to buy an iPad data plan or worse, removing the data plan (especially grandfathered unlimited plans like mine) from the iPhone account.

So if anyone has some advice, let me know. If this is a bad idea, I'll probably opt for a 32GB wifi instead.

It is possible. You have to change a few settings. However, you are correct. If ATT catches you they will cancel your accounts as it's a TOS violation. I don't know how likely they are to catch you but for me not worth it since the iPad is no contract anyway.

So what exactly do their ToS stipulate? Every device must have it's own SIM and contract?

Greedy.
