Using iPhone 4 with iPad 1 to video skype

I still have my first generation iPad and i have a cracked screen iPhone4 (everything works just fine). I'd love to find a way to repurpose them by giving them to my parents and setting them up to video Skype with me ( and give them a chance to see their granddaughter!).

I realize that the first gen iPad doesn't have a camera but I was thinking there might be a way of using them together to send and receive Skype video feed? (iPhone to take the video, and using the iPad to receive and get a nicer view).

I realize this is a crazy solution, but since these two devices are collecting dust... I thought it might be worth trying!!

Also thinking that maybe just the iPhone 4 with appleTV could work? Don't know if you can use appleTV when skyping.
