Can someone explain to me how this is done? I heard if you only have the wifi version of ipad 2 you'll be able to use your iphone 4 to access your 3g plan (on AT&T)...

Thanks!
Dan

Well the version with iOS 4.3 coming next week will allow this but you'll need to change to a tethering plan with AT&T. Basically another $20 a month for an additional 2gb of data.

The other option is jailbreaking your phone and getting an app called MyWi and this allows you to make your phone a mobile hotspot for any wifi devices and utilizing your existing iPhone data plan, as is. The app is around $20 and works great for me...

How is that 3G related to Wifi hotspot?

You're making your phone appear as a wifi router essentially. Any device (iDevice, laptop, xbox 360) can connect to it and use the 3G signal to the phone as the wireless connection. Sure it might not be ideal for gaming, but it works quite well for iDevices.

Can't find MyWi in apps...where do you get it...is that the right name??

Thanks! Is jailbreaking difficult to do?? Never did it before.....
Difficult to do? Not really. There are plenty of tutorials out there so I'd recommend looking into it and really understanding the process. It's really hard to permanently mess things up but it CAN happen. I'd suggest searching on Google and looking at Greenpois0n.

MyWi is available in Cydia once the phone is jailbroken, which is a new portal for apps and other resources made by various other people. It's not available via the Apple App store as it's not 'officially' supported...
