Using iPhone earphones with MBA question...

Has anyone been able to get the volume controls/pause button on the iPhone 3GS earphones to work with their MBA? I initially thought it was just a matter of the plug not being able to go in all the way due to the door lip, but it apparently isn't that.

Sadly, it does not work. For whatever reason, Apple chose to not update the audio jack to support the additional input pickups even though they included that support when they updated the macbook/macbook pro line to the unibody form factor. The also didn't include bidirectional input/output and digital audio.
