Using iphone with auxillary cord to make calls

I use to be able to connect my iphone 3GS using my auxillary cord and make and recieve phone calls through the car speakers. All of a sudden it stopped working. The apple store has not been able to help. Any advice or experiences?

is it the headphone socket that you are using to connect the iphone to the Aux socket? Do headphones on the iPhone still work? If so, it suggests the fault is either your connector cable or your car stereo's input socket.
