i know it's possible in the US.
see post:

however i wanted to know if anyone has tried it in canada. if so, elaborate on the details. when, how, anything important i should know?

I've read that it's possible with virgin, telus, and bell with a APN change. but Rogers and fido check your EMEI (basically phone ID) and see which device you're using

i called fido today and spoke with two different reps. from my understanding i just have to give them the EMEI of a tablet for them to activate the plan. but i don't know if they check if the imei after activation. also, not sure if i can use an imei of a tablet already activated by someone else, someone with a different carrier, someone in a different country etc.

i didn't read any americans having to do anything with IMEI's. but it seems like that's the big deal in canadian providers.
i also read somewhere that Virgin provides activated sim cards.

any people with experience on this, please help and share your stories. |i'll also do my best to keep you updated.
