Last year we were in Japan for the s2 launch (we are there quite a bit) and we bought our watches in Japan so that we would have the sony nfc chip for use with the Suica system over there which has been super handy.

Wondering how this will work with the LTE models and if we'll be able to get a s3 japan watch and use it with verizon...

there's not a lot of overlap on these cellular bands, so i'm guessing the answer is no.

i saw someone post elsewhere on here that all apple watches will be compatible with suica now... but Apple haven't updated any of the relevant documentation on that AFAI can see, so i dunno where they got that info from. was it in the keynote?
 
It appears it's a moot point and that iphone 8/X and watch s3 will have Felica enabled worldwide.
