Using Kindle app without account?

Is there any way to use the Kindle app without a Kindle account?

When the app first launches, there is a mandatory login screen. Is there any way to pass it? I prefer NOT to use a fake account. I just want to use the Kindle app to read my own collection of free .epub books.

I found Stanza far from being elegant like the Kindle app.

Is there a hack (with mobilesutrate or otherwise) to bypass this? It seems silly to me that I had to create a dummy account to try out this app to see if I like this over Stanza.

Yes, when your asked to enter your account details. There is a small link that says " continue without registering" click on it

Even if there is, the Kindle app is not compatible with the ePub format--with or without DRM.

There are a number of ePub compatible apps: iBooks and Bluefire Reader are just the first that come to mind.
