Using Macbook as camera viewfinder

I'm trying to use a camera in a very limited space-its on a tripod in a fume cupboard and is aiming at the floor, which means i can't see the view finder. Does anyone know if its possible to use something like photo booth, iphoto or imovie to act as the view finder through the USB connection? i don't need to control the camera, just see what its seeing so i can aim it at the right thing!

its a lumix tz5 camera. it looks like you can use sofortbild with Nikons, I can't find anything about lumix though!

Unless Panasonic has some kind of software that allows this, you're probably SOL. Digital pictures are free though... you could just take a whole bunch of photos and delete the ones that don't turn out.
