I want to use my Macbook pro formatted 500GB external harddrive with my Xbox 360 to display various media on a TV, but to do so I have to supposedly erase the contents whenever I connect to said 360 and reconfigure.
I put the now-erased xbox formatted external into the macbook and it says I have to erase the xbox format from it. I know theres a may to do this correctly and have the external work on both devices.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pretty sure that an external drive formatted as FAT32 should work for both the XBox and your Mac.

While what you say is correct, FAT32 can not send and recieve file larger than 4gb , what is probably any HD movie.
exFAt can but zi am not sure if it will work on the XBOX and mac.

Maybe you should try formating a usb thumb drive first to chevk if it works
