Using Macbook pro (mid-2009) Snow Leopard disk on Macbook Air 1,1

Hi,
So I have a first gen Macbook air that I bought used, the previous owner did a clean wipe and installed Snow Leopard, but did not give me the snow leopard disk, only Leopard. I am buying a mid 2009 MBP, my question is:

Can I use the snow leopard install disk that comes with the MBP to do a clean wipe on the MBA and fresh install of snow leopard?

Ive read that the install disks that come in the package are only good for the type of machine its bundled with. Is this true?

No, the grey restore disks are model-specific.

The grey install discs are system specific, you need a retail version of SL to install it
