Hey all,

So I do personal computer tutoring/consulting/fixing. And ever since I switched to a mac a year ago I've been letting all my windows skills slide. I haven't even touched Vista - yech!

But unfortunately, I don't really have that luxury. I need to be totally comfortable in XP and Vista. I also happen to love PC gaming, and the Mac just doesn't cut it for that (both from a performance point of view, as well as from a game-selection point of view).

I've installed Bootcamp/Parallels, and that is very helpful. But It aint perfect - I'm limited by space, for one thing, and also by annoyingness. Having to reboot my MBP every time I want to switch into dedicated Windows is a real PITA. Mostly this affects games, but also if I need to do cpu/memory intensive stuff like Photoshop (just to stay comfortable on all platforms).

So - here's the question: I'm thinking of building a Windows desktop computer, and I am wondering how I can make the two systems play nicely together.

Primarily I'm interested in the sharing of hardware. I still plan on doing all my main day-to-day stuff on my MBP. But I want the windows desktop there for gaming and exploration. Ideally, I'd like to be able to use the same Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor for both systems. I know KVM switches are made for stuff like this - but I'm totally unfamiliar with them.

Can anyone suggest a way that using a windows desktop and MBP can be done painlessly?

thanks!!
