I just bought one of those gaming headsets that have a microphone attached to them, and it came with a combination cable, which lets me plug the pink mic wire and green speaker wire into a single jack.
I've tried plugging in the single jack into the headphone port, but the computer doesn't recognise the headset or the mic and simply plays audio from its built in speakers. I plugged in only the green speaker cable and it worked and audio played through the headset.
I still can't get the mic to work.
I'm on a Mid-2012 13.3" Pro, non-retina.
Any suggestions?
UPDATE: I got it to work on the single cable, but there is only sound, and the computer does not recognise the microphone.
