Using Motion 5 for motion tracking with iMovie?

I do a lot of panning when I film and would like to incorporate better text into my videos. I do some very basic editing and find that both GoPro Studio and iMovie do more than enough for my editing needs, so buying FCPX doesn't really make sense for me. My question is, if I buy Motion 5 will I be able to import my already edited videos into Motion 5 and then just add the text? Or will this be more complicated than what its worth? My goal is for something like this:

I am very new to film and editing so the simpler the better.
